About the Instructor

Master Terry Bibbins is a US Army Veteran. Terry was born and raised in Palmetto, FL. He attended palm view elementary, Lincoln middle school, and palmetto high school. He was a cadet in the JROTC program and earned the rank of cadet Lieutenant Colonel and, the highest rank in the Palmetto High JROTC program. As a cadet, he led his battalion’s drill team to their first-ever state championship.  Terry’s leadership position in high school includes Cadet Battalion Commander and Drill Team Commander.   After graduating from Palmetto High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Artilleryman 13B, Cannon Crew Member, and rose to the rank of Sergeant at the age of twenty-one and served his country in Iraq from 2003 through 2006. 
Upon joining the U.S. Army, Terry was first assigned to Fort Sill Oklahoma where he attended Basic Training and Advance Individual Training-Artillery in June 2000.  Upon successfully graduating, Terry was first assigned to Fort Riley, Kansas as a crew member and Gunner and quickly learned, gain additional training, and advanced to the next rank of Private First Class and Specialist.  He completed the Warrior Leaders Course, an extensive and physically demanding course, and the Combat Life Savers Course, selected as the top candidate for the squad.  Terry was re-assigned to his next duty station at Giessen Army Depot in Giessen, Germany as a Cannoneer to be part of the team in October 2004.  By the age of twenty-one, He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, the first rank of the Non-Commissioned Officer, considered the backbone of the Army.  His military service ended after six years and he returned to Palmetto. He has earned numerous awards including the Army Achievement Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal, the Overseas Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, as well as the Army Good Conduct Medal.  Terry’s strong sense of community and commitment to the area youth was highlighted when he was awarded the DeMolay Chevalier in 2020 from the Manatee Chapter Order of DeMolay and the DeMolay Legion of Honor award in 2022. His DeMolay honors also include the DeMolay Number One Pin, the White Merritt Bar, the Ten-Year Membership Certificate, and the Twenty-Year Membership Certificate.
Terry Bibbins started teaching martial arts to a small group of students in his back yard which helped keep him focused. Eventually, he was able to open Bibbins Tae Kwon Do Studio in Palmetto.  The Bibbins Taekwondo program focuses on basic skills to stress the importance of the foundation of our program. Establishing strong study habits at an early age will build confidence.  Additionally, it offers an after-school program that expects students to take part in studying Taekwondo which supplements our culture for students to improve their concentration and continue to demonstrate excellence in their educational studies as well.  Lastly, the school focuses on physical exercise and provides a creative outlet for students and an opportunity for self-expression.
